About Ed Clarke

Ed Clarke is a sports physiotherapist and performance rehabilitation specialist with over 20 years of experience across the NHS, private practice, elite sport, and postgraduate education. He is recognised as one of the leading practitioners in his field, with a career that spans the full spectrum of clinical and high-performance environments.

Ed completed his Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy at King's College London before gaining extensive NHS experience. He then took on the role of First Team Physiotherapist at Arsenal Women's Football Club, working at the highest level of the women's game during a formative period for the sport in England. After three years with the club — and the distinction of serving as a physiotherapist at the London 2012 Olympic Games, working across weightlifting and fencing at the ExCeL Centre — he moved to Australia, where he worked in a leading Melbourne private practice and completed a Masters degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, studying under some of the world's leading clinicians and academics.

On returning to London, Ed led a major sports medicine practice, building extensive relationships across London's sports and orthopaedic communities and helping thousands of patients and athletes return to full fitness. In 2019 he joined Chelsea FC's Academy medical team, rehabilitating aspiring professionals and loan players before progressing to lead the physiotherapy department for the entire Academy.

Alongside his clinical career, Ed was a visiting lecturer on the UCL Sports Medicine Masters programme and is a regular contributor to professional publications including the Football Medicine & Performance Association (FMPA) Magazine, Sportsmith, and SportsMap. He is an engaged member of the international sports rehabilitation community, presenting at leading industry conferences such as the Emirates Sports Medicine Conference and attending the Sportsmith Rehab Conference.

In early 2026 Ed relocated to Perth, Western Australia, where he works at Pure Sports Physio — a clinic providing elite-level sports rehabilitation expertise in the private sector. He is available for clinical assessments of new injuries and complex second opinions via Pure Sports Physio's booking page.

Beyond clinical practice, Ed works with sports organisations and professional teams as a consultant, speaks at conferences and CPD events, and mentors physiotherapists and rehabilitation professionals looking to develop their careers in elite sport.
