Sports Physiotherapy Speaker & CPD Educator
The gap between good physiotherapy and elite sports rehabilitation isn't just clinical — it's conceptual. The best practitioners think differently about load, progression, decision-making, and the demands of high-performance sport. If you're looking for a speaker who can bring that perspective to your conference, CPD programme, or university curriculum, I'd love to hear from you.
I'm Ed Clarke, a sports physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience working across private practice, professional football, and postgraduate education. I led the physiotherapy department at Chelsea FC's Academy and currently lecture on the UCL Sports Medicine Masters programme. My speaking draws directly on that experience — practical, evidence-informed, and grounded in the realities of working with elite athletes under pressure.
Topics
My core speaking topics sit at the intersection of clinical excellence and high-performance sport:
Elite Football Rehabilitation — from load management principles to complex return-to-sport decision-making in professional academy environments, including the unique medical and logistical challenges of working within a football club.
Adolescent Athlete Injuries — the injury patterns, growth-related vulnerabilities, and rehabilitation considerations that every practitioner working with young athletes needs to understand, including pars interarticularis injuries, apophyseal conditions, and return-to-sport frameworks.
Performance Rehab Methodology — how to structure rehabilitation programmes that genuinely prepare athletes for the demands of elite sport, moving beyond pain resolution toward performance restoration.
Who I speak to
I regularly present to sports physiotherapists, sports medicine doctors, strength and conditioning coaches, and postgraduate students on Masters-level programmes. Whether you're organising a national conference, a regional CPD day, or a university lecture series, I'm comfortable across all formats and happy to tailor content to your audience.
Previous engagements
I have contributed to the FMPA (Football Medicine & Performance Association) publication and lectured extensively at postgraduate level. I attend and engage with leading sports rehab conferences including the Sportsmith Rehab Conference.
